Texas Blacksmithing Conference Class Jan 24th- Hand tools and Hand Forging

This class is one of three classes we will be teaching the days prior to the Texas Blacksmithing Conference, happening in Lagrange, Texas. These classes are looked forward to by many, and so they will fill up fast!

Important: The payment made here is only a down payment for the class to secure your spot. The remaining amount ($150) must be paid by cash or check upon arrival to class. The full cost of this class is $200

The Hand Tools and Hand Forging class is one that may be taken regardless of your level of skill or experience. This class focuses on the foundational “Principles of Forging” and how to think about forging in an efficient manner. The first half of the day will be spent making hand tools. Each student will leave with at least three hand tool, a slot punch, chisel, and fuller. We will cover the forging, basic grinding, and heat treating of these tools.

the second half of the day will be spent on some basic hand forging. This may include a horsehead bottle opener, or a leaf or flower key chain. This class focuses on the basics, but still has a very technical side to it that even the more experienced smith can gain from.

The hours of this class will be from 9:00AM-5:00PM. Only thing you need to bring is your preferred safety equipment, and water. Lunch will be provided. You must wear proper workwear. Leather closed toe shoes/boots, and all cotton clothing, and full length pants is required.
