This class is one of three classes we will be teaching the days prior to the Texas Blacksmithing Conference, happening in Lagrange, Texas. These classes are looked forward to by many, and so they will fill up fast!

Important: The payment made here is only a down payment for the class to secure your spot. The remaining amount ($200) must be paid by cash or check upon arrival to class. The full cost of this class is $250.

This years Friday class will be a 2.5lb straight peen hammer. This is a type of hammer preferred by many for certain forging tasks, where it is advantages for the peen to be parallel to the handle. To complete this project you will be working in pairs with the other person striking. Each individual will leave with a finished hammer. This class will cover many different aspects of forging, including working with a striker and proper striking form, how to punch and drift an eye in a tool, grinding, heat treating, handling, and other steps and techniques.

It is beneficial that students have prior forging experience for this class. And it is essential that students are physically fit and capable of swinging a sledgehammer for an extended amount of time.

The hours of this class will be from 9:00AM-5:00PM. Though there is a chance of going slightly later. Only thing you need to bring is your preferred safety equipment, and water. Lunch will be provided. You must wear proper workwear. Leather closed toe shoes/boots, all cotton clothing, and full length pants are required.
